My Complete ‘Smudgeproof’ Review of Senegence Lipsense Lipstick

Last Updated: July 10, 2017.  I have tested the product and will walk you through mine and others experiences with it.  You may decide to try it, decide you want to become a distributor and sell it or decide you don’t care for it at all!  Either way, I love this product and will try to make this review not too biased but really, it is an amazing product that all my friends are buying up!

So who am I?  A mother of two rocking little boys and a fashion-aholic.  I’ve always loved lipstick but my husband has hated it!  That is, until I kissed him with Lipsense on and told him to go look in the mirror and when he saw there was no marks he actually gave me an impressed look and asked how that happened.  I decided to put together this Lipsense review tutorial to better help all the ladies who are deciding if they should try or even sell it.

Is it really kiss proof, smudge proof and smear proof?

Mom in pool with lipsense onSmear proof?  Yep.  There’s a picture of me from this summer swimming with it on!  No smear at all!  So it is swimming pool safe and all activities in the water.

Kiss proof?  Yep.  What about it being ‘kissable’ lipstick?  As mentioned above, I kissed my husband and little boys and there is no color left behind.  To them it feels a bit glossy (like you kissed someone with lip balm on) but no smudge marks left behind.  After you have tried putting it on try kissing something white and you will be surprised yourself!

Smudge proof?  Yep. Girls, we all know the biggest pain about normal lipstick is the smudge marks it leaves behind!

How to Apply Lipsense

There is a pretty easy guide but I’ll walk you through how I do it.  Application takes about 1-2 minutes is all.

how to

First, make sure your lips are chap free and clean.  You will line your lips with the first layer of your color choice of Lipsense lipstick.  Let it dry for 10-15 seconds and apply another layer.  If you happen to mess up at any point then use the ‘Oops Remover’ (comes with a starter kit, click ‘Shop now” and under Lipsense go to Lipsense Collections) which will take it off right away.  After the second layer has been applied, let it dry once again and then apply a third layer.  After that layer has had time to dry then apply the gloss (comes in Shiny or matte styles) and you are good to go!  Now you have smudge proof, kiss proof and water proof lipstick :).

Here is a video for those (like me) who learn better by visualization.

Lipsense Colors

There are over 72 colors of Lipsense lipstick available.  (see update below).  Each color has funny & cute names.  Each tube of lipstick also has the name on the bottom of it so it is easy to keep track of your inventory.  Here is a picture below showing each color applied to lips.

lipsense-colors

Update May 2017 – In effort to keep colors in stock better, Senegence has dropped a number of these colors from 72 down to 32-36.  Because so many of these resembled one another it’s not too much of an issue, the full spectrum of colors is still available (when product is in stock.  Their stock issue right now is nearly always sold out).

How do you Remove Lipsense?

Plan ahead when you are putting on Lipsense!  I say this because it’s not practical to remove it 2-3 hours later after you have put it on.  I recommend at least plan on having it on for 4-6+ hours.  It can be hard to remove if you don’t have the right things.  Rub coconut oil on your lips and then gently scrub with a wash cloth and that will make it easy to wipe off.  They also have a remover that you can purchase (similar to a make-up remover) which works best.

Where to Buy Lipsense and how to order it?

Most distributors and online stores sell it for $23-27 per a a color tube.  These color tubes last dozens of applications.  You also need a gloss (shiny or matte) to get started.  You typically have to buy from a distributor (someone who is registered to sell it, like I am :).  If you buy directly from the Senegence website you have to enter a distributor ID in order to place orders. Feel free to use my distributor id which is:  200327 so you can purchase and try it out!

You don’t have to order a minimum monthly order like many other direct marketing companies.  Each distributor is treated as their own little boutique store and can sell you the product.  I typically charge family and friends who want it via Venmo or Paypal and then give or ship the product to them.  The Senegence website is sort of hard to navigate but be patient with it, there are alot of great products to choose from.

Note — currently several of the Lipsense colors are out of stock due to high demand.  Senegence is doing all they can to produce more in volume.  They have recently added new warehouses and manufacturing lines and full in-house production of the product.

How do I become a Senegence Lipsense distributor?

If you are like me, after you try Lipsense once you will become obsessed!  For only $55 you can start selling it yourself and make great money!  You get $300 in product free every $300 you spend.  So just think of it as buy 1 get 1 free and then when your friends and family buy from you get to keep the extra money!  There are many other perks as well as earning up to 10% on all down line orders.  They will send you checks as well as free products to test out.  You are basically your own ‘Lipsense’ store and it is up to you to market it.  Most girls use Facebook and Instagram.  If you join my team I can add you to exclusive Facebook groups with dozens of women sharing what works best for them.

You don’t have to know how to make a website or anything like that.  It is smart to use Facebook and other social media channels (Pinterest, Instagram etc.) to post your pictures and videos.  If you want instant sales, post a video of you kissing something and it not leaving a mark, I promise you will get them right away!

But before you start selling, you first need to:

  • Sign up as a distributor by clicking here.
  • Enter the distributor ID: 200327

And then select what type of account you want it to be.  For most people it will be individual but if you plan to make this a full time (or part-time for most women) business than select business.  There is a one time $55 fee but don’t worry that isn’t a re-occurring thing.  I will add you to an exclusive invite-only Facebook group where we share and discuss the secrets that are best working for our Lipsense businesses.

How much does Senegence Lipsense Cost?

This depends on how much your distributor sells it for but you should never spend over $30 per a color.  As mentioned above, $25 is normal.  A starter kit may cost $50-60 but after you get that you can focus on building your color collection! It is comparable to other lipsticks and it is much better quality than Mac and others I have used over the years.  Buy from my store and you will get it very quickly!  Check it out here.

My Kissable Conclusion

Thanks for reading this tutorial on Lipsense!  It really is a great product and is gaining popularity on social media and Google like crazy right now!  If you want to be distributor and make money from Lipsense, now is a great time to join!  You can connect with me on Facebook or Instagram.  If you want to just order a couple colors and try it for yourself, it is definitely affordable and worth the money.

Have fun with it!  Kiss some guys who will freak out until they see there is not a bright red mark left behind ;).  Please leave any comments or questions you have regarding Lipsense in the section below.

  1. I looooove lipsense! It is the best. My boyfriend still doesn’t trust me when I kiss him with it on and I get a tease out of it. It hurt my lips a little bit at first but take good care of them (with lip balm etc.) and you shouldn’t have a problem. I like how quick you can apply it on and that it actually stays on! I have worn it to pool parties and other outdoor wet activities and get a good reaction out of it.

  2. I just became a Lipsense distributor and it is so easy to sell these products! I just posted a few pictures of me kissing items without a smear and then a how-to tutorial and people are flocking to me. Lipsense is out of colors sometimes when I am ordering bulk but they are working on improving this part. Anyways, I’m a big fan and wish I would have signed up with your team, I will refer my friends to you in the future because I want to be a part of an actual Senegence lipsense team.

  3. Lipsense is the new hype and once you use it a few times it is no wonder why! I have found that the best ways to remove it are: coconut oil, Foops, and randomly a neutrogena wipes (or bar). Thanks for the discount code, I just ordered a bunch from that website.

If you ladies decide to sell it, it really is an easy product to sell! Just prove that it works, kiss things such as the back of your hand or just smear it around and they will notice it is not getting taken off. Great analysis of the product from end to end, thanks for the post.

    • Once I got my starter kit I got hooked on Lipsense pretty quickly. Make sure you get the glosses and try a few of them. It can cost a pretty penny to get all the colors and glosses you want at the start, but then it just lasts and lasts and you don’t have to buy more! Thanks for the recap on this product, you covered it very thoroughly.

  8. I am obsessed with this stuff! One tube of Lipsense seriously lasts forever! Getting 5-10 color shades will last you a couple years honestly, if you turn out to be a real die hard you can order all 72 colors ;). Thanks for the Lipsense tips and tutorial, no one knows how to take the stuff off so I appreciate what you showed me!

    Reply
    • Hey Taylor, Yeah you do need to put all 3 layers on for it to be longer lasting. If you want it for a quick couple of hours, you can by pass a layer or two. 3 also makes it darker and more vibrant, if you want a lighter version of the color 1-2 layers is fine.

    • Hey Chrissy, you get the colors for $12.50 and then can re sell for $25 + tax. You can learn more if you click the ‘become a distributor’ link at the top of this site for more info. Lots of opportunity and only 70,000 distributors are signed up under Senegence so far. That may sound like a lot, but compared to Younique that has 500,000+, dOterra with close to a million, you realize that the quicker you join this company the more potential you have at growing.

Also you can purchase a starter kit? I’m in love with it & have gotten a few friends hooked; but not looking for a career.

    Reply
    • Hey Stephanie!
You get 50% off retail so usually around $12 per lipsense tube. This totally does not need to be a ‘career’, sell it to your friends and make commissions. Contact me on my social profiles or at lakenslipsense@gmail.com for more information about signing up. Several girls who try out the product end up using other Senegence products such as their permanent mascara.

  36. I just purchased 3 tubes of color, the oops, and gloss, deciding to see what all the fuss was about. LipSense does stay on your lips. It does not smudge. However, it is NOT SO GREAT after eating (depending on what you eat)! Anything cooked with any sort of oil, or that has natural oils in it, can smear it.

  37. According to some research that I’ve done, this company has been around since the 1990’s. Can you let us know why there is no data in the Cosmetic Database on ingredients and toxicity scoring? I don’t want to buy a tube and then realize that there are some things I just don’t want to add to my skin. I have sensitivities. I am concerned about the “burning”, “tingling”, “blistering” and “stinging” that some have reported.

    Reply
    • You’re right Layne. Basically, once their ‘Lipsense’ product caught on last year in 2016, it went socially viral and that is what has exploded the company in growth. Now some of their other items such as the Mascara that lasts are becoming more popular. I would love to be your coach if you join my team! Instructions above, only $50 and you will be on your way to making passive income quickly.

      Reply
    • I was not aware of the “tingling” either….For me it was a burning sensation. I was told by my “friend” this would go away after a few months of not using paraffin based products. But I used just the gloss for about 3 weeks before applying the color.

    • We had to update it as Senegence no longer allows personal websites to sell their products. If you do find a girl selling on their own website you can submit the URL to compliance@senegence.com. They were nice to me and my Sene-site actually does better because it has all of their products on it.

  40. I’ve been a distributor for 3 years and now Senegence is growing like crazy cause of their new line of Lipsense! Definitely makes getting other ladies on board easier. Typically I would say this is a trend but because my clients keep re-purchasing from me I think it is here to stay! I have a harder time keeping colors in stock more than anything. Here is a tip for ladies selling it: have your tray (or small bucket) handy and they will buy more than if they just look at the possible colors online! Also, get a sample on their lips. You can combine colors so there are dozens of different combinations.

Thanks Laken for the review. I wish I could turn back time and join your team. My up line doesn’t even care about me (or even know who I am it seems). Would be nice to join a team of Senegence pros who are going after it.

  44. How much does it really cost to be a distributor? A one time start up fee and then you order from a catalog for them?

    Reply
    • One time fee of $55. Then you order online and get 20-50% off retail depending on how much PV (point value) you buy each month. You don’t have to sell that much to stay at 50% off, which then you get each Lipsense color tube for $12 and can sell for $25 + tax.

      Reply
      • Tsk tsk, the $55 is an annual fee, and you have to place a 100pv order every 6 months to stay active.

        Reply
        • Correct! $55 first time and then $60 annually. 100pv is not much at all (couple colors) so if you don’t plan on ordering 300-750PV per month to get the highest discount rate off retail then it’s not worth your time selling it.

    • Hi Cate.,

Emailed you — SC would be a great place to start. It is most popular in Utah so anyone outside of Utah has an advantage in starting because less women know about the product. You’re distributor doesn’t need to be in the same city or state as you. Thanks to social media and technology in general, I can have you trained and add you to the right groups so you have unlimited training tips at your fingers regardless of where you live. Best of luck!

    • Individual – you will get a regular 1099 from Senegence at the first of the new year for your taxes. Most people will do this and use their SSN when submitting the W9 tax form to Senegence. 90% of women should plan on signing up under this account.
Business – If you have a designated sole proprietorship LLC already formed for your Lipsense business. You could select this and use your EIN. If you already have a boutique, hair salon etc. you could put it under that company. You can always update it to a business later once you have revenue coming in, that is what I did!

  54. Hi,

I am very interested in becoming a distributor however I do have some questions… I know it’s 55 dollars to join-what does that include? I also read something somewhere saying to receive 50% discount you have to order 300 or more. I am hoping that last part is not correct otherwise you would not turn a profit on your first 300 dollars sold… Next, do you have to purchase any inventory? My next question is how do you get paid? And last but least why does the application as for social security number? I would really appreciate your input.

    Thank you
    Natasha

    Reply
    • Yes it’s true, see my reply to Jamie above for more details. But, when you place that order for $300 you are getting Lipsense tubes at $12.50/ea. Then you sell to friends/family/social following for $25/ea which is double. I sometimes do discounts but most are just fine paying that.
Inventory is up to you. You will want some demo tubes to apply so they can fall in love with the product. Since each color has so many applications – I would suggest 3 demo tubes of 3 different types of colors (not similar shades).
Yes, you need to input your SSN or if you already have a business license, your EIN. They need this since they pay you as a independent contractor (1099) at the end of each year.

Trips are announced each year, qualifications etc set. Usually for 3-6 days to a beach place. You need to realize this is really their first year when it is exploding in growth and potential (granted if they can keep the product in stock).

  63. It won’t allow anyone to become distributors right now. I put in the sponsor number, and it said thru were out for the time being.

    • Hey Mel; try again or message me on Facebook. I just had someone sign up last night so it should work fine!

I am looking to sign up and as I look there are no LIPS Kits available. I am curious what all comes with the $55.

    • That is the ‘Starter Kit’ you are referring too. A color of your choice, the applicant gloss (matte or glossy gloss) and remover.
